Management of moisture and water movement is a critical design component of a quality bathroom renovation. Getting it wrong can mean significant issues down the track affecting the structural integrity of your home due to rot, mould and mildew… and costly remedial works to correct the problem later.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is an important barrier that stops water from seeping into structural components of your bathroom. To protect your home against water infiltration, we apply a protective waterproof membrane coating to flooring, the shower/bath area and wall surfaces (extending to a certain height). We also water seal all gaps, joints and corners and an adequate slope in the floor is also incorporated into the design to direct water and prevent pooling.

Our waterproofing is completed by a trained specialist using the correct products and techniques compliant with Australian Standard AS-3740 (Waterproofing of Wet Areas), which sets out the requirements for the materials, design and installation of waterproofing for domestic wet areas for residential buildings. A Certificate of Waterproofing will be provided to you on completion of your renovation.

Ventilation

Bathrooms are exposed to frequent moisture and humidity… the ideal environment for mould and mildew growth which can cause odour, surface deterioration and health risks. Our team will ensure that adequate ventilation is incorporated into your bathroom renovation where it is needed (such as exhaust fans), based on its size and layout.

Safety and compliance

We do things by the book. On completion, we ensure that all safety and compliance requirements are met, including:

• Safety Glazing Certificate of Compliance

All shower screens must comply with Australian Standards AS/NZS 1288 and 2208 and be made of Grade A or Grade B safety glass, at a designated thickness. Safety glass is stronger, more durable and designed to shatter into tiny pieces when broken (rather than larger, more dangerous pieces), reducing risk of serious injury.
